How Does CNC Laser Cutter Steel Achieve Bright Surface Cutting

In metal processing, laser cutting carbon steel occupies a very important position, especially through the use of high-power laser cutting, burr-free cutting, bright surface cutting and other leading technology, high-quality precision cutting workpieces can be obtained.

In the processing technology of the CNC laser cutting machine, the section of carbon steel can be cut very smoothly to achieve a similar "mirror surface" effect, which we call "bright surface cutting". Of course, the bright surface cutting is first used for medium and thick carbon steel, and the carbon steel plate is too thin or too thick to achieve bright surface cutting. So how to achieve bright surface cutting?


1. To control the cutting speed. Too fast cutting speed can easily lead to incomplete burning of carbon steel plate, and carbon steel cannot be cut through, while too slow speed will lead to excessive burning and melting and deformation of carbon steel. Therefore, under the premise of ensuring that the carbon steel is not deformed, the cutting speed should be increased as much as possible to achieve rapid penetration.


2. Adjust the cutting air pressure. When carbon steel undergoes oxygen cutting, the combustion of the material will release a lot of heat, so the oxygen pressure cannot be too high. Generally speaking, the lower the air pressure in the cutting range, the brighter the cut section. However, in order to ensure cutting stability, a certain amount of blocking air pressure is generally increased.


3. Adjust the nozzle height. The height of the nozzle will affect the beam quality, oxygen purity and gas flow direction. The lower the nozzle, the better the beam quality. The higher the oxygen purity, the smaller the gas flow direction. Therefore, the nozzle height should be adjusted as low as possible for bright surface cutting.


4. adjust the size of the cutting focus. The beam emitted from the nozzle of cnc laser cutter steel has a certain diameter. When cutting on the bright side, the nozzle is usually smaller. If the focus is too large, it will lead to hot nozzle, affect the cutting quality and stability, or even directly lead to nozzle damage. Therefore, it is necessary to find out the maximum focus value that the nozzle size can bear, and then adjust it.choose the nozzle size. The smaller the half nozzle is, the brighter the cut section is and the better the effect is.


5. Adjust the cutting power. Regarding plates of different thicknesses, the greater the thickness, the higher the required power. On the contrary, the smaller the thickness, the lower the required power. Therefore, the power should be adjusted according to the actual thickness of the plate to achieve the best cutting power.

CNC laser sheet metal cutting are a more recent laser technology that uses a bank of diodes to create the beam, which is focused through a fiber-optic cable. Fiber laser cutters allow you to achieve a faster and cleaner cutting process than CO2 laser cutters, especially in materials with a thickness of less than 5 mm.


Although fiber lasers are compatible with a broad range of materials, you must pay special attention to silver.

Silver retains heat from the laser and starts to warp during cutting operations, making it challenging to achieve the desired machined part. As a result, top-tier machine shops typically use a bracket as a heat sink to transfer heat away from the silver workpiece during CNC laser cutting machine operations.
